Senior Account/Strategic Planner

EMA's Insight, Strategy and Planning department is seeking a highly motivated individual with a solid background in account and strategic planning to support B-to-C and B-to-B marketing communications efforts.

As a Senior Account/Strategic Planner, you will be responsible for using planning techniques and the latest and most innovative methods for obtaining customer and market insight to drive strategic, integrated marketing communications.

Responsibilities include:

Understanding and representing the client's category, competition, customers and brand
Working as a fully-integrated member of the entire client team - Account Services, On/Offline Media, Research, Public Relations, etc.
Providing leadership and guidance for other team members on customer insights, research and branding initiatives
Crafting briefs to include target market analysis, personas, customer journeys, insights and key messaging recommendations; and leading internal agency briefings to client account and agency business development teams
Recommending and evaluating research that will aid in consumer insight gathering and strategic planning processes
Developing accurate and insightful conclusions from research data and presenting insights and recommendations to the client
Business Acumen: Monitoring and interpreting cultural, economic, and social trends relevant to the client's business
Participating in new business development
Leading Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) planning


Ability to quickly and accurately synthesize data from numerous, disparate sources, make connections, and probe for more information in real-time
Ability to develop IMC plans, white papers, brand positioning, value propositions, and POVs
Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions based upon information furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Solid research skills
Presentation prowess - Develop and deliver great presentations that engage and captivate an audience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Collaboration is a must, but so is confidence and the ability to work independently


Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
Five to ten years' total experience in Agency or related marketing area or function including account planning and strategy focus
Experience with B-to-C and B-to-B marketing
Client side experience desired but not a requirement
