Outside Sales Representative – Union County

The Charlotte Observer is looking for someone that has a proven track record of success in sales with 2 or 3 years of solid business to business sales experience; extensive cold-calling and prospecting experience.

This candidate will be responsible for the following job duties listed below.
Grow incremental revenue
Responsible for aggressive prospecting and cold calling
Effectively filter and qualify prospects and build a pipeline to ensure goals are met
Research prospects, open doors, engender trust, close deals
Effectively explain the value of Charlotte Observer solution and how it will meet the client’s business objectives
Devise and implement sales strategies for achieving sales goals (individual revenue and product goals)
Build and handle the needs of an account base including processing ads, resolving credit issues, tear sheets and other customer request
Report activities to manager


Strong consultative selling skills are required to gain in-depth understanding of customer needs to provide solutions and build relationships. Must have the ability to persuade and present information in a compelling and professional manner. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong follow-up skills and solid relationship management. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and have an aptitude in math.

Must be focused on new business development, customer service, and work well with the general public and under deadline pressure. Be self motivated, sales oriented, detail oriented and a team player. Valid driver’s license, good driving record, access to a dependable vehicle.
